Prep roundup: Assumption, Pittsville softball both win, set up first-place matchup
Daily Tribune staff
MARSHFIELD -- Jada Straub, Brittney Brock and Favy Segovia combined on a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption softball team to a 10-0 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday.
Straub and Brock each pitched two innings and Segovia struck out three and walked one in her one inning of work to wrap up the no-hitter.
Chelsea Hohl had two of Assumption's eight hits.
Brock was returning from a leg injury suffered in a recent game, and was sharp, coach Jim Getzlaff said.
"Our pitching was very good," Getzlaff said. "Brittney was still a little sore, but it might be in reach for her to go again on Saturday. Favy, who hadn't thrown since summer ball, threw very well."
