Eight is great

The Assumption softball team claimed its eight straight Marawood Conference South Division championship on Monday by sweeping Auburndale in a doubleheader.

The Royals have won the conference crown every year since joining the Marawood during the 2000-01 school year. They have shared the title just once, last season with Stratford and Pittsville.

Assumption completed an undefeated regular season at 19-0 overall and 14-0 in the Marawood. The Royals are now an amazing 97-3 against conference rivals.
