Anderson promoted

Wisconsin Rapids resident Mark Anderson has been promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the Army National Guard. Anderson commands the 32nd "Red Arrow" Infantry Brigade Combat Team, the largest major subordinate command in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, with more than 3,400 soldiers stationed at armories in 34 communities.

He is a graduate of Assumption High School with an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and post-graduate studies at the United States Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pa., with a master's degree in strategic studies.

Anderson is the son of Wallace and Janet Anderson, Wisconsin Rapids. He is married to the former Barb Sweeney, and they have three children -- Matthew, Elizabeth and Andrew. In civilian life, he is the resources manager for Consolidated Water Power Company-Stora Enso North America in Wisconsin Rapids.
