Prep roundup: Assumption has big day on the diamond and soccer field

WAUSAU -- Rebecca Sigler had a goal and two assists, leading the Assumption girls soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday.

Kallie Reinke and Emily Heeg also had goals for the Royals.

MARION -- Connie Vang won the shot put (109-10) and discus (34-11/2) leading the Port Edwards girls team to a fourth-place finish.

The boys also finished in fourth place, but did break two school records in the 400 relay and 3,200 relay.

Phil Martinez, Adam Dupree, Tyler Steczynski and Richie Ysquierdo set the record with a time of 44.87 in the 400 relay and Casey Schroeder, Zach Weidman, Henri Van Homwegen, Jy Corbett in the 3,200 relay with a time 8:56.24.

The Port Edwards won the 400 relay as Sam Kohlbeck, Sabrina Morgan, Sammi Rehberg, Teani Gildenzoph won the 400 relay in 53.57 seconds.
