Located centrally on the east side of Wisconsin Rapids, Assumption Middle School is housed on the west wing of the Assumption High School building and serves students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Assumption Middle School Staff

Mrs. Joan Bond is the Principal of Assumption Middle School and Sacred Heart Elementary School. Mrs. Bond has been with WRACS for eleven years. She has an Elementary Education Degree, Nursing Degree, and a Masters in Leadership. She and her husband have two children and a new grandson. Mrs. Bond enjoys being with friends and family.

Mr. Joe Birkhauser is the Athletic Director for Assumption High School, Assumption Middle School, and St. Vincent DePaul School. He is also the Head Girls' Basketball Coach and the Golf Coach at AHS.

Mrs. Amber Carroll has moved from Sarcred Heart School in Nekoosa to AMS. She is currently teaching Language Arts and 7th grade Religion. She is an alumni of St. Phillips and AHS. Mrs. Carroll went to UW-Stevens Point and graduated with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English. Amber loves to read, play with her two cats, and hang out with her two nieces.

Mrs. JoAnn Goodness is the Assumption Middle School science teacher. She also teaches several exploratory courses at AMS. She is the director of the Assumption High School musical that is showcased each year, as well as the middle school drama advisor. She is a graduate of Assumption High School and has Bachelor of Arts Degree in Special Education from the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. She has been teaching for 30 years, including 22 years with WRACS. In her spare time, Mrs. Goodness enjoys gardening, sewing, traveling (the family has been to Jamaica, Mexico, and 32 of the 50 states!), reading, and doing crafts. She and her husband, Mike, live in Wisconsin Rapids and have three sons. Her entire family graduated from Assumption High School.

Mr. Ryan Klein is the seventh grade math teacher at AMS. He also works extensively with middle school students who attend the Academic Support Center. He is very active in the athletic program at Assumption High School, as he coaches football and basketball. This is Mr. Klein's second year with WRACS. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Education from Maryville University. He is a recent graduate of Assumption High School, as are his older brother and younger sister. In his spare time, Mr. Klein enjoys bowling, golfing, and fixing houses - especially his own!! He hopes to one day go to the moon!!

Mrs. Peg Klinkhammer is the Assumption High School and Middle School Librarian. She is also the advisor for the Battle of the Books club in the Middle School. She has worked with WRACS for eleven years. Mrs. Klinkhammer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado and a Master of Arts in Library Media from Mankato State Univeristy. In her spare time, Mrs. Klinkhammer enjoys bicycling, gardening, sewing, walking, writing and reading. She and her husband, the Director of Instruction for the high school, have eight children; two doctors, two engineers (one is a doctor and engineer), two teachers, and three students.

Mrs. Renee Kollock is the administrative assistant at Assumption Middle School. She is very busy during the day taking care of attendance, snack and lunch count, lost locker keys and Friday folders. Mrs. Kollock is a graduate of Assumption High School. Her mom is the administrative assistant at Assumption High School. In her spare time, Mrs. Kollock enjoys reading, doing home improvement projects, and boating. She and her husband have three boys; Devin , Isaac , and Trent who attend St. Philip School. Mr. and Mrs. Kollock enjoy watching the boys play hockey.

Mrs. Fran La Chapelle is the AMS art instructor. Mrs. LaChappelle is also the art instructor at St. Vincent DePaul School. She has been with WRACS for the past thirteen years. She has a Bachelor of Art Degree in Art from the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mrs. Jan Minarcin is the advisor and coordinator for the Academic Support Center of Assumption High and Middle Schools. This is her eleventh year in the WRACS system. She is a graduate of Assumption High School and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in English with a minor in Scientific and Technical Writing from UW-Stevens Point. In her spare time, Mrs. Minarcin enjoys running with her dog, playing basketball, and snowshoeing. She one day hopes to run a marathon!!

Mr. Mike Schulte is the Physical Education/Health Teacher at Assumption. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education K-12 and Health from the UW-Stevens Point. He coaches baseball and girls tennis at Assumption High School. Mr. Schulte is blessed with a wife and two daughters.

Mrs. Janice Schwab teaches Algebra to qualifying 8th grade students. She also teaches several Assumption High School math courses and is the Math League advisor for the high school. She has been teaching for 30 years, including 25 years with WRACS. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Math from Edgewood College and a Master of Education from St. Scholastica. She and her husband have seven children and twelve gradchildren. Three of her children live in North Carolina, one in Texas, and three in Wisconsin - it is safe to say that she does quite a bit of traveling!

Mrs. Shannon Shaw is the seventh grade social studies teacher and one of the eighth grade math teachers at AMS. She also teaches two exploratory courses for seventh graders. Mrs. Shaw is the yearbook advisor for the middle school and the head volleyball coach for AHS. This is her seventh year with WRACS. She is an Assumption High School Graduate and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Broadfield Social Sciences from UW-Stevens Point. Mrs. Shaw and her husband have three children: Ellie (6), Ryan (3) and Sarah (1). When she is not teaching, Mrs. Shaw enjoys spending time with her children, reading, and watching sports.

Miss. Jennifer Tomlinson joins AMS as a sixth grade classroom teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Learning Disabilities from the University of Wisconsin -- Stevens Point. A graduate of St. Philip School and Assumption High School, she is in her third year of teaching; including two as the 5th and 6th grade teacher at St. Philip. She currently lives in Junction City with her younger sister.

Ms. Molly Thomas is the band instructor for grades 7-12 at AMS and AHS. She has been with WRACS for fourteen years. She is an Assumption High School and Sacred Heart Graduate and has a Bachelor of Music Education Degree (Instrumental Emphasis) from Viterbo College. When she is not working with the concert band, marching band, pep band, or pit band, Ms. Thomas enjoys playing volleyball, playing the piano, watching movies, and playing board games. She also enjoys enjoys traveling along the Wisconsin River aboard her pontoon boat with her family. She has an extensive Snoopy and Elvis Presley collection.

Mrs. Bobbette Timmermann is the AHS and AMS German instructor. This is her third year in the WRACS system. Frau Timmerman holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration and German from Hamline University. She attained her teaching ceritification from UW-Stevens Point. Mrs. Jan Weisenbeck is the vocal music director at Assumption Middle School and as Assumption High School. She also is the General Music instructor for the middle school. This is Mrs. Weisenbeck's fourth year with WRACS. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree from UW-Stevens Point. Mrs. Weisenbeck spends much of her free time outdoors where she enjoys waterskiing, boating, camping, gardening, and walking. She also likes to read and play volleyball and basketball. Mrs. Weisenbeck has two wonderful children - Nathanial and Natalie. Her family resides in Bancroft.

Mrs. Peg Wettstein joins AMS as the Youth Choir Director. She taught for more than fifteen years as the Music Teacher at Sacred Heart School. Mrs. Wettstein is also the Director of Liturgical Music/Organist at both Sacred Heart Parish and Saint Alexander’s Parish, where she directs both adult and youth choirs. She also directs the State Homemaker’s Chorus (Wisconsin Friendship Chorus), which is composed of ladies from all over the state. Mrs. Wettstein teaches second grade CCD, private piano lessons, plays for weddings and funerals, and is the general leader of our local 4-H Club. She and her husband, Doug, have a blended family of six children ages 13-22; and together they enjoy hobby farming with cows and sheep!
