Assumption High School Staff
Mrs. Joan Bond is the Principal of Assumption High School and Middle School. Mrs. Bond has been with WRACS for eleven years. She has an Elementary Education Degree, Nursing Degree, and a Masters in Leadership. She and her husband have two children and a new grandson. Mrs. Bond enjoys being with friends and family.
Mr. Joe Birkhauser is the Athletic Director at Assumption High School, Assumption Middle School, and St. Vincent DePaul School. He is also the Head Girls' Basketball Coach and the Golf Coach at AHS.
Mrs. Kathleen Cavanaugh has been teaching English classes at Assumption for twenty-six years!! She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in English from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. In her spare time, Mrs. Cavanaugh enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. Alan Glinksi is the Assumption High School chemistry and physics teacher. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics. Mr. Glinski also holds a Masters Degree and a Doctorate in Chemistry. Before coming to Assumption in 2007, Mr. Glinski worked for several years in the pulp and paper industry. He retired as the Vice President of the Research Department in the Wisconsin Rapids Mill. In his spare time, Mr. Glinski enjoys playing cards and other games. He also likes to go fishing and hunting, among other things. Mr. Glinski and his wife, who is also a teacher at Assumption, have two grown children and four grandchildren. They enjoy traveling very much and have been to Scandinavia, Germany, England, and France.
Mrs. Sue Glinski teaches several mathematics courses at AHS. This is her ninth year year at Assumption. Mrs. Glinski has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and a minor in Biology and Education. In her spare time, she likes to read, cook, and play with her four grandchildren. She and her husband, who also teaches at Assumption, have been married for thirty-seven years. They took a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii and her family has visited Disney World. Mrs. Glinski is hoping someday to return to Disney with all four of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Pat Hoffmann is the administrative assistant at Assumption High School. She had held this position for eleven years. Mrs. Hoffmann is a graduate of PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffmann have five grown children and are the proud grandparents of seventeen grandchildren!!
Mrs. Marcia Jahnke teaches the advanced biology course at Assumption High School. She has also added a few classes including Desktop Publishing and Advanced Desktop Publishing. Mrs. Jahnke received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry - Polymer from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She also has a degree in Medical Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. This is Mrs. Jahnke's first year teaching and first year with WRACS. Mrs. Jahnke's and her husband, a teacher at Lincoln High School, have two children: Louis (3) and Corynn (1). In her spare time, Mrs. Jahnke enjoys reading and cooking.
Mr. Ryan Klein teaches a Latin course at Assumption High School. He also works extensively in the Academic Support Center (ASC). Mr. Klein is very active in the athletic program at Assumption High School, as he coaches football and basketball. This is Mr. Klein's second year with WRACS. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Education from Maryville University. He is a recent graduate of Assumption High School, as are his older brother and younger sister. In his spare time, Mr. Klein enjoys bowling, golfing, and fixing houses - especially his own!! He hopes to one day go to the moon!!
Mr. Paul Klinkhammer is the Director of Instruction at Assumption High School. He also teaches several English classes, as well as a Church History course at AHS. He has been teaching at Assumption for several years and twenty-seven overall. Mr. Klinkhammer has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Master's Degree in English and Educational Administration. In his spare time, he enjoys farming and playing hockey.
Mrs. Peg Klinkhammer is the Assumption High School and Middle School Librarian. She has worked with WRACS for ten years. Mrs. Klinkhammer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado and a Master of Arts in Library Media from Mankato State University. In her spare time, Mrs. Klinkhammer enjoys bicycling, gardening, sewing, walking, writing and reading. She and her husband, the Director of Instruction for the high school, have eight children; two doctors, two engineers (one is a doctor and engineer), two teachers, and three students.
Mrs. Judy Lessig is the pottery instructor at Assumption High School.
Mr. Christopher Marshaus teaches several social studies courses at Assumption High School. He has been teaching since 1999 and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and History from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Mrs. Jan Minarcin is the advisor and coordinator for the Academic Support Center of Assumption High and Middle Schools. She also teaches business communications and fundamental English classes at AHS. This is her eleventh year in the WRACS system. She is a graduate of Assumption High School and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in English with a minor in Scientific and Technical Writing from UW-Stevens Point. In her spare time, Mrs. Minarcin enjoys running with her dog, playing basketball, and snowshoeing. She one day hopes to run a marathon!!
Mr. Brian O'Donnell is the Guidance Counselor at Assumption High School. He has been a counselor for thirty-six years, including twenty-six at Assumption. Mr. O'Donnell received his Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Missouri. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education from Central College and has a Professional Counselor's Certificate from the State of Wisconsin. Mr. O'Donnell has been married to his wife Bev, for thirty-seven years. They have two grown children and two grand-children.
Mr. Milo Plante is the Auto-Cad and Visual Basic instructor at Assumption High School, although he spends the majority of his time working on the WRACS technology system. Mr. Plante attended the Wisconsin School of Electronics. He has been teaching for fourteen years, including eleven at Assumption. In his spare time he enjoys playing with his band, playing the piano, and listening to music.
Mr. Mike Schulte is one of two physical education teachers at Assumption. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education K-12 and Health from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He coaches baseball and girls tennis at Assumption High School. Mr. Schulte is blessed with a wife and two daughters.
Mrs. Janice Schwab teaches several Assumption High School math courses and is the Math League advisor. She has been teaching for 30 years, including 25 years with WRACS. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Math from Edgewood College and a Master of Education from St. Scholastica. She and her husband have seven children and twelve grandchildren. Three of her children live in North Carolina, one in Texas, and three in Wisconsin - it is safe to say that she does quite a bit of traveling!
Mrs. Mary Sculley is an art instructor at Assumption High School. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with majors in Art Education and Drama Education. She also has a minor in Psychology. Mrs. Sculley has been teaching for eight years - all of them within the WRACS system. In her spare time, Mrs. Sculley enjoys painting murals, baking, and reading. She and her husband have two sons that have graduated from Assumption and their daughter is a junior at AHS. Mr. Sculley works at Ocean Spray Cranberry in Babcock.
Ms. Molly Thomas is the band instructor for grades 7-12 at AMS and AHS. She has been with WRACS for fourteen years. She is an Assumption High School and Sacred Heart Graduate and has a Bachelor of Music Education Degree (Instrumental Emphasis) from Viterbo College. When she is not working with the concert band, marching band, pep band, or pit band, Ms. Thomas enjoys playing volleyball, playing the piano, watching movies, and playing board games. She also enjoys enjoys traveling along the Wisconsin River aboard her pontoon boat with her family. She has an extensive Snoopy and Elvis Presley collection.
Mrs. Bobbette Timmermann is the AHS and AMS German instructor. This is her third year in the WRACS system. Frau Timmermann holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration and German from Hamline University. She attained her teaching certification from UW-Stevens Point. Mrs. Mary Virant is a science instructor at Assumption High School. She has been teaching agriculture, environmental science, biology, and physical sciences courses at AHS for thirteen years. Mrs. Virant has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education, Animal Science, and Biology. Mrs. Virant and her husband have been married for twenty-two years and have two children; Emily, who is working on a Masters Degree at UW-River Falls and Hannah, who in working on a Bachelors Degree at UW-Eau Claire. In her spare time, Mrs. Virant enjoys cross-country skiing, horseback riding, camping, fishing, and reading.
Miss Maggie Voelker teaches several high school Religion classes and is part of the campus Ministry Team. Before graduating from Marquette University with a Degree in Theology, Miss Voelker was a stand-out basketball player at Assumption High School. Miss Voelker has three younger sisters. Two of them have graduated from Assumption High School and she teaches the other one!! Miss Voelker enjoys reading, doing crafts, playing tennis, and watching movies. She has also taken several trips to Europe and was able to attend Mass with John Paul II and Pope Benedict!
Mrs. Jan Weisenbeck is the vocal music director at Assumption Middle School and as Assumption High School. She also teaches a course in Music Theory. This is Mrs. Weisenbeck's fourth year with WRACS. She has a Bachelor of Music Degree from UW-Stevens Point. Mrs. Weisenbeck spends much of her free time outdoors where she enjoys water skiing, boating, camping, gardening, and walking. She also likes to read and play volleyball and basketball. Mrs. Weisenbeck has two wonderful children - Nathanial and Natalie. Her family resides in Bancroft.
Mrs. Peg Wettstein joins AHS as the Youth Choir Director. She taught for more than fifteen years as the Music Teacher at Sacred Heart School. Mrs. Wettstein is also the Director of Liturgical Music/Organist at both Sacred Heart Parish and Saint Alexander’s Parish, where she directs both adult and youth choirs. She also directs the State Homemaker’s Chorus (Wisconsin Friendship Chorus), which is composed of ladies from all over the state. Mrs. Wettstein teaches second grade CCD, private piano lessons, plays for weddings and funerals, and is the general leader of our local 4-H Club. She and her husband, Doug, have a blended family of six children ages 13-22; and together they enjoy hobby farming with cows and sheep!
